Terms you may hear about CD Quality

Pre-gap -  Before the data is written an area of "zeros" is written to the disc
Post gap - At the end of the data there is an area of "zeros" writing as the lead out.
BLER - Block Logical Error Rate, measures the error rate to the error correction circuitry.
Jitter - Instantaneous and averages on the variations in the time position of the data.
Burst - There errors show seven or more frames contain errors in a successive sequence.
E11, E21, and E31 - These are the error rates for one error, two errors, or more errors in each at the first level of error correction. E12, E22 and E23 would be the same type of errors at the second level of error correction.
Reflectance - measures the reflectivity of the metallic coating by measuring the data signal.
Radial Tracking - measures the slope of hte low frequency tracking signal.
Radial Noise - Measures the high frequency changes.
Radial Eccentricity - Meaures the radial runout on the tracks.
HF - Measures the peak-to-peak data signal a the highest data frequency, 3T and the lowest data frequency, 11T
Asymmetry - Looks at the positive data signal with respect to the decision level to negative data signal levels with respect to the same decision level.
Cross Talk - The ratio of off-track HF signal amplitude to the on-track amplitude of the laser.
